Magic Wands
Not too much going on in the shop. Had a chance to play around a bit and make a new wand, so i thought I'd show it off and a few of the others I've done. The longest one, made from the dark wood, is about 17 inches and I think it's a real good size. The smallest one is one of the first I made and fits my daughter's five year old hand very well. I've been thinking of making a few to take down to a local comic book and gaming store to see if they'd like to sell them there. Great gifts for a Harry Potter fan.
In other news I got my coring system delivered and I've been playing around with it. In theory it allows me to core out the center of a larger bowl to make smaller bowls from the same piece of wood, making a true nested set of bowls. I've yet to get it to work how I think it's supposed to but the more I play with it the easier it gets. I might have something to show from it in the near future.

Bowl Set Done
Here is a finished set of those silver maple bowls I roughed out a bit ago. They turned out really nice. There is a 10 inch, 8 inch, and 6 inch bowl all about 3 3/4 inch deep. I hope the woman i did them for likes them as much as I do.

Finished Bud Vases
Here are the finished bud vases. A few different styles and sizes. They call them bud vases because they are only able to hold one or two flowers at a time and are pretty small. They have a glass tube insert that allows for adding water for live flowers. They make great gifts I think.

Should be able to get email alerts now.
I set up some stuff that should send out email alerts to when things get posted if that's something you are interested in. Up on the left hand side toward the top are a few different options you can use. In theory it should all work and send out an update email, if there is one, once a day in the afternoon.

Eggs
Eggs are done, well mostly done. I'm one short so hopefully I can remedy that sometime soon.
In other news all six of the silver maple bowls are roughed and drying. I'm starting on some more bud vases this afternoon. They make great Mother's Day gifts by the way. I should have a few extras by the time I'm done. I'll make a post when I've got them finished if anyone is interested in them.
I'm currently trying to keep myself from going out and buying a new chainsaw. I do need one but I'm hoping to find a good used one before I commit to a new one.

Easter is around the corner
Easter is just around the corner and I thought I'd make a few Easter Eggs for my little nieces and nephews. Here is the first couple getting roughed out.
Roughing out Bowls
Here are a few of the Silver Maple bowls I've been roughing out. I've got 3 more to go. Hopefully I'll get those done in the next day or 2 so they can get to drying.

Got a little work done
Spent the morning getting my wolverine sharping system set up in the shop. Spent the rest of the afternoon roughing out some silver maple for a set of bowls. Cutting a 10" x 4" blank just about pushes the limits on my little delta lathe but I had fun.
Gonna get some good pics of a few of the projects we worked on in the workshop down in Provo when I get some time hopefully tomorrow. I'll add it to the "To Do List" with the rest of the projects people want.

Getting Started, again.
This last week I was able to attend a workshop down at Craft Supplies USA in Provo. It was a basic woodturning workshop taught by Dale Dallon. It was fantastic. I highly recommend those workshops to anyone. It was well worth the cost 100 times over. I got a chance to meet a bunch of great guys in the class, some from here in Utah and some form out of state.
After getting back to life I've started redoing my small workshop getting it more organized to allow me to be a bit more productive in my turning. It's slow going for now but hopefully I'll get it into shape by the end of the week.

Let it begin.
Welcome to my woodturning blog. I'm a beginning turner so while the work may be rough I intend for to to get much better. Feel free to stick around and see how it goes for yourself.
